RDA’s Rs 8,760m budget for FY2026-27 vetted

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has finalised its annual budget of Rs 8,760 million for the fiscal year 2026-27, according to an official handout issued on August 17, 2025.

The budget was vetted by the Finance Sub-Committee, chaired by Commissioner Rawalpindi and RDA Director General Salman Ghani. The committee also submitted estimates for development expenditure to the Government of Punjab for final endorsement.

The Finance Sub-Committee comprises representatives of the Finance Department, Planning and Development Department and the Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department. The meeting reviewed the RDA’s financial plan and examined its alignment with strategic development objectives.

Officials informed the meeting that Rs 3,917 million had been earmarked for ongoing and new development schemes aimed at improving infrastructure and urban development in Rawalpindi.

Among the major schemes is the Rawalpindi Ring Road R-3 Project, involving construction of a 38.3-kilometre main carriageway from Banth (N-5) to Thalian (M-2), with a budget allocation of Rs 3.0000 million.

The Nullah Lai Project, covering the feasibility study and detailed design of a trunk/outfall sewer along the Nullah Lai corridor (N-5), has been allocated Rs 1 million. The Rawalpindi Ring Road Phase-II feasibility study and detailed design, from Thalian (M-2) to G.T. Road (N-5), has been allocated Rs 5 million.

Other schemes include the feasibility survey of an RDA housing scheme, study of the Rawalpindi Master Plan, physical survey for identification of traffic and planning issues, and other related initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Rawalpindi Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Additional DG RDA Masood Ahmad Bukhari, Director Finance RDA Masood Arshad, Director Estate Management Iftikhar Ali, Director Land Ghazanfar Ali Awan, representatives of relevant departments and other RDA officers.

The proposed budget reflects the RDA’s stated commitment to infrastructure development and sustainable urban growth across the Rawalpindi region.
