Balochistan Flood Recovery Boosts Community Livelihoods

Communities in Balochistan continue to recover from the devastating floods of 2022, with ongoing support provided by the government and international partners. More than 25,000 residents in the Kacchi and Jaffarabad districts have received vital assistance through the China International Development Cooperation Agency-funded project, led by UNDP Pakistan in collaboration with the Government of Balochistan.
The project has played an essential role in helping affected families rebuild their livelihoods, particularly focusing on supporting women, who make up nearly half the beneficiaries. Assistance has included agricultural inputs, livelihood kits, specialized training, and ongoing mentorship, enabling communities to restore their farms and businesses.
To strengthen the recovery effort, a Lessons Learned Workshop was held this week with Islamic Relief Pakistan, CICETE, and UNDP China participating. The event celebrated the project’s achievements so far and facilitated discussions on enhancing future support strategies for flood-affected regions in Balochistan. These collective efforts aim to create stronger and more resilient communities as they continue on the path to long-term recovery.
