Launching Child Rights Hub in Multan
SPARC, working with The Centre for Child Rights and Business and supported by European Union funding, launched the Child Rights Action Hub in Multan on 30 October 2025 to strengthen human rights due diligence, responsible business and child protection across Pakistan’s textile and leather sectors.
The Child Rights Hub is the second such platform in Pakistan, following an initial launch in Karachi on 25 September 2025, and is designed as a collaborative space for industry, government and civil society to reinforce compliance, increase supply chain accountability and create safer, decent work pathways for young people.
The launch included a recorded message from Mr. Jeroen Willems, Head of Cooperation, European Union in Pakistan. Speakers and participants included Mr. Qazi Asad, Regional Director, TEVTA Punjab; Mrs. Sidra Bakhtawar Sheikh, Representative of the Multan Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Ali Umer Tipu, Deputy Director at the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan; and Mr. Sohail Mehmood, Ex-President of the Pakistan Ginners Association, together with representatives from government, civil society and the private sector who highlighted the need for local industry engagement and practical measures to protect children in supply chains.
Through the Child Rights Hub, partners will work with manufacturers, trade bodies and training authorities to support compliance with due diligence standards, build supply chain transparency and promote responsible business practices while expanding opportunities for youth to access decent and safe employment in key export sectors.
