Driving Child Welfare Partnerships in Pakistan

The Chairman of the Senate met with the Country Director of Save the Children Pakistan for a progress update focused on improving child welfare and the well-being of vulnerable communities across the country.

The Country Director outlined the organisation’s current portfolio, detailing programmes in education, child protection, health and nutrition, humanitarian response and resilience-building. The briefing emphasised recent progress, geographic coverage and the impact of ongoing projects on children and families, particularly in underserved and crisis-affected areas where child welfare concerns remain acute.

Discussion also covered upcoming initiatives and strategic priorities that aim to align development and humanitarian efforts with national priorities. Both sides stressed the need to strengthen collaboration with government institutions to deliver sustainable, inclusive outcomes that advance child welfare at the provincial and district levels.

The Chairman of the Senate expressed appreciation for Save the Children Pakistan’s contributions and highlighted the importance of coordinated action between government, civil society and development partners. He underlined urgent challenges including access to quality education, protection from harm and equitable health services as essential components of any strategy to improve child welfare.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to sustained dialogue and collaborative programming to protect children and support vulnerable populations, with continued monitoring and partnership seen as key to scaling impact and securing long-term gains for child welfare in Pakistan.
