PANAH Expands Pediatric Cardiac Surgeries
Panah Secretary General Sanahullah Ghumman handed over the first child for surgery to Dr. Qurban Hussain Khan of the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology as part of an expanded effort to provide pediatric cardiac care. The move marks the start of a formal collaboration between PANAH and RIC to make pediatric cardiac surgeries more accessible to low-income families.
Heart and related diseases are increasing at an alarming rate in Pakistan, with more than 240,720 people dying annually from cardiac conditions. Treatment costs remain prohibitively high for many families, and PANAH is intensifying its work to bridge that gap by supporting pediatric cardiac surgeries for deserving children who cannot afford private care.
An official memorandum of understanding has been signed with Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, and PANAH will now facilitate surgeries for eligible patients from AFIC, PNS Shifa and RIC Hospital. MS-RIC Dr. Qurban Khan affirmed that the institute will work side by side with PANAH to ensure timely treatment and follow-up for young patients in need.
Secretary General Sanahullah Ghumman, together with Medical Superintendent Dr. Qurban Hussain Khan, admitted a heart patient for surgery at RIC the same day, underlining the organisations’ joint commitment. PANAH says it will continue to prioritise the best possible care so that no child dies because treatment is out of reach, and the organisation expressed particular gratitude to Dr. Qurban Hussain Khan and the RIC team for their cooperation.
