Authorities Respond Rapidly to Islamabad Court Blast

The Islamabad court blast on Tuesday left at least 12 people dead and more than 30 injured after an explosion at the district court complex. The injured were rushed to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where emergency measures were immediately activated and medical teams placed on high alert.

Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal arrived at PIMS soon after the incident to check on the victims and instructed hospital staff to prioritise saving lives, directing that the best possible care be given to all patients. He confirmed that 22 injured were being treated at PIMS and that two others were transferred to private hospitals at the families’ request, while the disaster ward was opened to handle any further emergencies.

PIMS spokesperson Dr. Mubashir Daha said a total of 36 injured were brought to the hospital following the blast. Eighteen of those received first aid and were discharged, fourteen have been moved to regular wards and four remain in critical condition under intensive care. Hospital officials said two bodies remain unidentified while twelve victims have been identified.

Executive Director Dr. Rana Imran Sikandar is personally overseeing the response, mobilising all available medical resources and ensuring doctors and paramedical teams work round the clock. Medical staff emphasised that treatment of the injured is the immediate priority and that necessary facilities and emergency services are being provided without delay.

Victims include lawyers, police officers and civilians. The deceased list includes advocate Zubair Ghumman and eleven others whose names have been released by the hospital administration. Injured police personnel named by authorities include ASI Irshad of Ramna Police Station, Head Constable Muhammad Imran and Constable Imran Javed of Kohsar Police Station.

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar also visited PIMS to offer condolences and assured families that the government stands with the affected and will pursue a comprehensive investigation into the Islamabad court blast. Security around the hospital has been heightened as relatives gather outside emergency wards and authorities coordinate the ongoing response.
