Youth Peace Champions Gain Storytelling and Communication Skills

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Pakistan, in collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) and the European Union in Pakistan, organized a four-day workshop in Islamabad to empower 40 young leaders from across the country. The initiative aimed to equip youth with essential skills in storytelling and communication to promote peacebuilding in their communities.
Participants received hands-on training in communication strategies focused on resilience, enabling them to address and overcome challenges within their environments. The workshop also introduced psychosocial support tools to help young leaders address emotional well-being—both their own and that of those they serve.
A significant portion of the training centered on the use of storytelling as a tool for healing and empowerment. By sharing personal experiences and community stories, participants learned methods to foster understanding and build stronger, more connected communities. Additionally, youth leaders were guided in designing and launching youth-led peace missions, encouraging active participation in initiatives that contribute to lasting peace.
The workshop highlighted the growing role of youth in leading positive change and demonstrated their commitment to strengthening communities throughout Pakistan. Organizers and participants alike expressed optimism that these efforts would contribute to a more resilient and peaceful society.
