Building Climate Resilience in Pakistan’s South
As one of the world’s most climate-affected countries, Pakistan requires sustained, strategic investment to strengthen climate resilience for its most vulnerable communities. With funding from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), IOM Pakistan is supporting communities in the south to better prepare for climate shocks and reduce the immediate risks they face.
IOM Pakistan briefed Baroness Jenny Chapman, UK Minister for International Development and Africa, during the Green Compact launch in Islamabad, highlighting the tangible impact of this partnership. The briefing focused on how targeted support helps build local capacity, enhance early preparedness and improve community-level responses to extreme weather events.
The partnership underscores the importance of long-term, strategic investments to scale climate resilience across affected regions. Continued collaboration between the UK and Pakistani partners aims to translate funding and technical support into stronger protection for southern communities as they confront ongoing climate shocks.
