Empowering Girls with Digital Skills in Punjab

A significant meeting took place at the Punjab Women Protection Authority office between DG Kalsoom Saqib and Lady Mariéme Jamme, founder of iamtheCODE, culminating in the announcement of a historic memorandum of understanding. Under the agreement, both organisations committed to empowering girls in Pakistan by prioritising Digital Skills, coding and STEAMED education to expand access and opportunity across the province.

The MoU sets a framework for collaboration between the Punjab Women Protection Authority and iamtheCODE to develop initiatives that promote girls’ participation in technology and innovation. By focusing on Digital Skills and coding, the partnership aims to create pathways for young women to engage with tech education and build competences that are increasingly vital in Pakistan’s evolving digital economy.

The partnership sends a clear message about investing in the next generation of women leaders and technologists in Punjab. Officials from both sides described the agreement as a step toward inclusive learning and capacity building, with an emphasis on scaling programmes that deliver hands-on STEAMED training and mentorship to girls in urban and rural communities.
