China promotes Iran in protecting its national security, freedom, and democratic rights while also fighting arrogance and protectionism. Chinese President Xi Jinping greeted the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, to Beijing on Tuesday to commence a three-day visit. He acknowledged Beijing’s “solidarity” with Iran and encouraged an early settlement of the Tehran nuclear issue.

Raisi and a huge financial and economic mission had been received by Xi in Beijing for the first state visit by an Iranian president to China in more than 20 years. China and Iran “have strengthened each other and cooperated together in unity and cooperation in the face of the current challenging changes in the world, times, and history”
While Iran is already subject to harsh U.S. sanctions because of its nuclear program, both countries are under pressure from Western countries over their stances on Russia’s war of Ukraine. As Moscow has become more sidelined internationally because of its war, Iran has risen as one of its few significant friends, along with China.

Western countries have accused Iran of supplying Russia with surveillance drones to be used in its “special military operation,” an allegation Iran strongly disproves. Beijing has tried to portray itself as neutral while providing diplomatic support to its strategic partner Russia, making Moscow’s offensive in Ukraine a touchy subject for Beijing.

China, according to Xi, “claims to support Iran in safeguarding state identity, independence, territorial integrity, and national unity… and in fighting isolationism and unlocks.” China will continue to “promote the timely and appropriate solutions of the Iranian nuclear crisis” and “opposes hostile forces interfering in Iran’s internal affairs and jeopardizing Iran’s security and stability.

A number of agreements for bilateral ties in the fields of agriculture, trade, tourism, environmental protection, health, disaster relief, culture, and sport were signed by the two parties.

Iran and China are significant Asian nations. The best example of China and Iran’s friendly relations with other nations is their cooperation. I’m offering my best wishes to both nations in an effort to strengthen their continuous bonds of cooperation and collaboration in a broad range of areas for the benefit of their citizens.

I sincerely hope that Iran and China will achieve higher success in terms of national development, that their people will live more peaceful, happy lives, and that this magnificent Asian Pearl will have more advantages in the future.
