Pakistan diplomacy advances Middle East deescalation

Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said Pakistan’s expanding diplomatic engagement in the Middle East reflects growing trust in the country and a constructive role in promoting restraint and unity among Muslim nations. He described these efforts as central to preventing further escalation and maintaining regional stability.

Ashrafi welcomed the recent telephonic contact between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, calling the warm and cordial exchange a meaningful step in ongoing diplomatic efforts. He said the conversation underscored Pakistan’s commitment to de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy.

He praised the joint peace initiatives involving Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye, noting the collective resolve to avoid wider conflict. Ashrafi singled out the measured and restrained response shown by Arab and Islamic countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, as an example of wise and patient diplomacy rather than aggressive retaliation.

Ashrafi also recalled Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s strong condemnation of attacks on Saudi Arabia and reiterated Pakistan’s complete solidarity with the Kingdom. He highlighted the Prime Minister’s offer to host direct talks between Iran and the United States as a sign of confidence in Pakistan’s ability to mediate sensitive disputes.

Referring to the Foreign Office position, Ashrafi noted that Islamabad stands ready to facilitate dialogue if all parties agree, and he said Pakistan’s consistent emphasis on dialogue, diplomacy and Muslim unity has been acknowledged by international leaders. He affirmed that Pakistan diplomacy will continue to support efforts for peace, stability and harmony in the region.
