Resilient Pakistan Independence Day Celebrates Unity and Diversity

The Center for Peace and Development Balochistan (CPD) organized a vibrant Independence Day celebration in Quetta that brought together youth and members of religious minority communities to promote unity and interfaith harmony. The event, held at the Quetta Press Club, was part of the “Resilient & Rising Pakistan” campaign led by the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety in partnership with the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and Paigham-e-Pakistan.
More than 120 participants, including women, young people, children, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), gathered to celebrate Pakistan’s diversity and foster a spirit of patriotism. Among the prominent figures addressing the audience were William Barkat, former member of the provincial assembly, Monas Khwaja, media professional, Mr. Khurram of PPAF, Sir Jorjen, Guru Baksh representing the Hindu community, Mr. Nasrullah, CEO of CPD, and educator Ambreen. These speakers emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony, the valuable role religious minorities play in the country’s progress, and the collective responsibility to uphold democratic and inclusive values.
The event featured a program of activities highlighting Pakistan’s diverse traditions, including children’s recitations of Biblical verses, patriotic songs, and cultural performances. A special tribute was dedicated to persons with disabilities, recognizing their resilience and positive contributions to society.
Through these celebrations, the gathering underscored the strength found in Pakistan’s diversity and encouraged participants to actively contribute to building more inclusive and resilient communities. The event concluded with a strong message promoting unity, inspiring the youth and all communities present to play an active role in shaping a harmonious future for Pakistan.
