Pakistan, Romania Vow to Deepen Parliamentary and Bilateral Cooperation
Pakistan-Romania Friendship Group Lauded for Strengthening Ties

ISLAMABAD: In a diplomatic meeting aimed at reinforcing bilateral ties, Romanian Ambassador Dan Stoenescu called on Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at Parliament House on Monday. The two officials engaged in a wide-ranging discussion focused on parliamentary collaboration, shared interests, and evolving regional dynamics.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized Pakistan’s strong commitment to its longstanding relationship with Romania, which he described as rooted in mutual respect, trust, and strategic interests. He stated that a vibrant framework of parliamentary cooperation would further elevate bilateral relations and bring greater depth to collaboration between the two countries.
Highlighting the active role of the Pakistan-Romania Friendship Group within the National Assembly, Speaker Sadiq noted its instrumental contribution in fostering enduring legislative engagement between the Pakistani and Romanian parliaments. He underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation in critical sectors such as education, trade, industry, and information technology, calling Romania a key international partner in Pakistan’s development agenda.
Ambassador Stoenescu echoed the Speaker’s sentiments, reaffirming Romania’s appreciation for its cordial relations with Pakistan. He expressed Romania’s keen interest in further developing cooperation in legislative affairs, academia, and the economic sector. Acknowledging Pakistan’s advancements in information technology, he praised its dynamic IT industry and suggested that deeper institutional ties could benefit both nations.
The ambassador also underscored the constructive role Pakistan’s parliamentary diplomacy plays in advancing peace and development across the region. He expressed Romania’s willingness to learn from Pakistan’s experiences and explore joint initiatives that promote democratic values and shared progress.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to strengthen parliamentary exchanges and facilitate the exchange of high-level delegations in the near future. Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to work together on shared objectives and deepen collaboration across multiple domains.
