Strengthening Counter Terrorism Skills in Police
UNODC Pakistan, with the support of the Government of Canada, delivered a five-day specialized training on the Counter Terrorism Toolkit at the National Police Academy from 6–10 October 2025 for under-training Assistant Superintendents of Police. The programme aimed to equip future police leaders with practical skills and procedures relevant to contemporary operational challenges in Pakistan.
The course enhanced participants’ understanding of Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and practical aspects of P/CVE laws and practices, placing Counter Terrorism at the centre of investigative and preventive work. Trainees engaged with legal frameworks and case-based exercises designed to strengthen evidence collection and inter-agency coordination within the country’s law enforcement architecture.
Practical sessions introduced advanced criminal analysis tools to support data-driven investigations, including i2 Analyst’s Notebook and the Crime Wall by Social Links. Hands-on workshops focused on linking financial flows, networks and behavioural indicators to inform operational decisions and to improve the analysis of complex terrorism-related cases.
The training reinforced institutional capacity by preparing Assistant Superintendents of Police to apply Counter Terrorism techniques in their future roles, enhancing investigative quality and contributing to more effective national responses to terrorism financing and violent extremism.
