Chairman Senate Backs Kashmiris on Accession to Pakistan Day

**Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Reaffirms Solidarity with Kashmiris on Accession to Pakistan Day**
Chairman of the Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), emphasizing that decades of state-sponsored violence have failed to weaken the resolve of the Kashmiri people. His message marks the observance of Kashmiris’ Accession to Pakistan Day, commemorating the 1947 decision when Kashmiris declared their intention to join Pakistan.
In a statement issued to mark the occasion, Chairman Gillani underscored the enduring nature of the bond between Pakistan and the people of Kashmir. “The connection between Pakistan and Kashmir transcends geography and rests in the hearts of our people,” he remarked, recalling the historical significance of July 19th in representing the Kashmiris’ political and emotional commitment to Pakistan.
Gillani condemned the ongoing Indian occupation and persistent human rights abuses in the region, calling attention to the continued denial of basic freedoms to Kashmiris. He noted that despite decades of suppression, including against the third generation of Kashmiris, the community’s resolve for a peaceful struggle and self-determination remains unshaken.
The Senate Chairman further pledged that Pakistan will persist in its diplomatic, moral, and political support for Kashmir until the Kashmiri people achieve their legitimate rights. He also appealed to the international community, urging global powers and human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities by ensuring the Kashmiris are granted their right to self-determination as laid out in relevant United Nations resolutions.
