**Pakistan and China Deepen Cooperation in AI, Digital Governance, and Med-Tech Innovation**
Pakistan and China are exploring new avenues to strengthen their partnership in advanced technologies, following a meeting between Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja and a high-level Chinese delegation. The talks centered on expanding collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI), digital governance, medical technology research, and smart city solutions.
The visiting Chinese delegation included prominent figures from the technology and medical sectors, such as Cheng Dong, a key member of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, along with Liu Yuangui, Vice President of Shenlan Technology, Professor Zhao Shanting, a renowned medical expert, and Dr. He Bin, an assistant professor and researcher. The group highlighted China’s expertise in tech-driven innovation and expressed readiness to work with Pakistan on mutually beneficial projects.
During the meeting, both sides identified several priority areas for cooperation. These include launching an AI skills exchange program aimed at empowering young Pakistanis with cutting-edge expertise, and partnering with the National IT Board to advance digital governance and smart public services. Joint ventures between Chinese institutions and Pakistani startups were also discussed, with a particular focus on the health tech, edtech, and fintech sectors.
The delegation demonstrated advanced AI-powered machinery for smart maintenance and urban management, underscoring the potential to modernize Pakistan’s city infrastructure. Another area of interest was AI-driven research in Chinese medicine, with the goal of developing innovative treatments for chronic and neurological diseases through technological collaboration.
Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja underscored Pakistan’s commitment to welcoming international tech partnerships that align with the country’s digital transformation goals. She emphasized that such collaborations are crucial to fostering inclusive innovation and accelerating the nation’s progress toward a modern digital economy.
