Pakistan Red Crescent Launches Flood Emergency Appeal

Pakistan Red Crescent Society has launched an emergency appeal to assist communities devastated by this year’s floods, while the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has announced a 17 million Swiss franc emergency appeal to help scale up relief operations. The appeals come as officials warn of widespread loss of life, displacement and destruction of livelihoods across affected areas.
Speaking at an official ceremony, Farid Abdulkadir, Head of Delegation for the IFRC in Pakistan, described the floods as devastating, with significant human and economic costs. He said families have been forced from their homes and many livelihoods have been wiped out, underscoring the urgent need for expanded humanitarian assistance.
To respond, the IFRC has launched a 17 million Swiss franc emergency appeal to support the Pakistan Red Crescent Society in expanding its relief efforts. The funds are intended to enable the PRCS to reach more affected communities and accelerate distribution of critical aid.
The PRCS appeal seeks to mobilize additional resources and coordinate with partners to deliver relief to those most in need. Both organizations emphasized the scale of the emergency and the importance of a coordinated response to address immediate needs and begin recovery efforts for flood-affected populations.
