Pukhtun Rozgar Program Marks 3rd Anniversary in New York

The Pukhtun Rozgar Program, a community-driven initiative supporting livelihood opportunities in Pakistan, marked its third anniversary with a celebration in New York. The event was attended by the Deputy Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Umar Sheikh, who represented Consul General Aamer Ahmed Atozai and addressed members of the Pakistani-American Pukhtun community.

The Pukhtun Rozgar Program operates by collecting small contributions from community members in the United States, which are then used to help underprivileged individuals in Pakistan start small businesses. Beneficiaries of the program have established ventures such as rickshaw services and retail shops, enabling them to support their families with dignity and financial independence.

In his speech, Umar Sheikh praised the efforts of the program’s founders, donors, and volunteers, highlighting their dedication to empowering people through self-reliance rather than charity. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in addressing unemployment and poverty, and thanked everyone involved for their commitment.

Sheikh further reaffirmed the support and appreciation of the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York for the Pukhtun Rozgar Program. He encouraged the Pakistani-American community to continue and expand their outreach to help more families in Pakistan achieve economic stability through similar grassroots initiatives.
