NA-48 Islamabad T-Chowk Rawat Flyover Inaugurated

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone for the T Chowk Rawat flyover in NA-48 Islamabad, launching a project officials say will relieve traffic congestion and improve connectivity for thousands of commuters traveling between Islamabad, Rawat and the Grand Trunk Road.

The flyover is being presented as a major public welfare initiative aimed at streamlining traffic flow on one of Islamabad’s busy corridors. Authorities expect the new structure to reduce bottlenecks, shorten travel times and enhance road safety for daily commuters and commercial traffic alike.

Raja Khurram Nawaz, the local parliamentarian for NA-48, thanked the prime minister for initiating the project and emphasized its importance for residents of the constituency. He said the flyover will bring tangible benefits to people who travel between Islamabad, Rawat and GT Road, and will help resolve longstanding traffic problems in the area.

The foundation stone ceremony was attended by senior federal and local officials, including the interior minister, the minister for parliamentary affairs, members of parliament, the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, the Deputy Commissioner and the Inspector General of Islamabad, among others. Their participation underscored the project’s administrative support and its priority for local governance.

Officials say construction of the flyover will be coordinated by relevant civic authorities to minimize disruption during works and to ensure the structure meets traffic and safety requirements once completed.
