Prophet’s Seerat as Guidance for Pakistan’s Challenges

Chairman of the Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad offer guidance for addressing Pakistan’s social, economic and national challenges, urging unity and service to flood victims at Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations in Multan. The event, organized by Anjuman Islamia at Daulat Gate and attended by senior politicians, religious leaders and large numbers of citizens, included tributes to the armed forces, calls for philanthropic support for flood relief, and a ceremonial turban-tying for the organization’s president.

Speaking at the celebrations, Gilani described the Prophet’s life as a source of faith, knowledge and moral guidance, and emphasized that Islam promotes peace while education is essential for Pakistan’s stability and prosperity. He extended greetings to the nation on 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal and highlighted the occasion’s spiritual significance.

Gilani praised Anjuman Islamia for its contributions to education in southern Punjab, particularly Multan, noting the organization’s establishment of merit-based, non-discriminatory institutions. He singled out the group’s president, Syed Imran-ul-Hasan Gilani, for his commitment to promoting learning.

Linking the observance to national service, Gilani said the concurrence of 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal with Defence Day carries a special message. He paid tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces, affirming that the sacrifices of its personnel have preserved the country’s security and stature as a nuclear power.

Addressing the ongoing flood emergency, Gilani urged a collective national response to rehabilitate those affected. He called on philanthropists, charities and civic organizations to stand alongside the government in relief and recovery efforts.

Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, who joined Gilani on the platform, echoed calls for unity, saying the Prophet’s example teaches love and solidarity. He paid respects to the nation’s martyrs on Defence Day and appealed to political parties to set aside differences and cooperate in serving flood victims.

The program culminated in a large Anjuman Islamia-hosted ceremony attended by political, religious and social figures, during which Gilani, Governor Kundi and other dignitaries performed the traditional turban-tying for Anjuman Islamia president Syed Imran-ul-Hasan Gilani. Notable attendees included the sajjada nashin of the Dargah Hazrat Musa Pak Shahid, Syed Abu al-Hasan Gilani; Members of the National Assembly Syed Ali Musa Gilani and Syed Ali Qasim Gilani; veteran politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi; and Khawaja Rizwan Alam, senior vice president of the PPP’s South Punjab wing.

Participants concluded the gathering by pledging to promote knowledge, unity and peace. A large procession, led by Chairman Gilani and Governor Kundi, marched from Daulat Gate to Husain Agahi Chowk.
