Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Champions Green Youth

Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan met with officials from the Higher Education Commission and the British Council to plan the next steps for the Green Youth Movement, focusing on empowering young people to lead sustainability and climate action across Pakistan.

The meeting brought together senior representatives: Mr. Asif Hussain, Director of Planning and Development at the Higher Education Commission, and Mrs. Sadaf Akram, Deputy Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at the HEC. From the British Council, Iftikhar Ahmed, Head of Non‑Formal Education, and Aun Naqvi, Programme Manager for Non‑Formal Education, attended. Syeda Amnah Batool, MNA and focal person for the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, was also present.

Participants discussed the Green Youth Movement’s objectives and explored how to mobilize and equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and platforms needed for effective climate action and sustainability initiatives. Emphasis was placed on leveraging non‑formal education, institutional support, and monitoring frameworks to ensure measurable impact.

Officials outlined the importance of collaboration between PMYP, the HEC and the British Council to expand outreach, build youth leadership, and integrate environmental priorities into youth programming. They committed to continued discussions to define concrete steps and partnerships that will take the Green Youth Movement forward.
