Rescue 1122 Responds to Eid Emergencies Rawalpindi
During the three days of Eid, Rescue 1122 teams in Rawalpindi attended 167 road traffic accidents that affected 189 people, providing timely on-scene medical care and evacuation while maintaining their average response time.
Among those involved, three people lost their lives, 84 suffered serious injuries and 102 sustained minor injuries. Victims included 157 men and 32 women, with the highest concentration of casualties between the ages of 11 and 40. Reported causes of these collisions included speeding, driver negligence while driving, tyre bursts and other contributing factors.
Rescue 1122 also responded to 46 fire incidents across the district during Eid. Firefighters reached every scene promptly and brought all blazes under control with no reported injuries. Professional firefighting efforts and quick coordination by the district rescue administration helped avert estimated losses of approximately PKR 19 million. Among the fire calls, ten related to forest fires, and causes were cited as short circuits, human negligence and other reasons.
The Rawalpindi rescue administration said teams remain focused on reducing road and fire incidents through enforcement of traffic laws, continued fire safety training and community awareness programmes. Rescue 1122 urged the public to adhere to speed limits, avoid negligent driving and follow fire safety precautions to lower the risk of emergencies during festivals.
Muhammad Usman Gujar, Media Coordinator Rescue Rawalpindi, confirmed the figures and reiterated that rescue teams will continue to be on alert to provide rapid response and lifesaving assistance during peak periods.
