Strengthening Punjab Health Partnerships

Punjab Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir met with World Food Programme Country Director Coco Ushiyama in Lahore to discuss stepped-up collaboration on health, nutrition and community welfare. The meeting focused on practical ways to expand services at the grassroots and reduce malnutrition across the province.

The minister briefed the WFP delegation on provincial initiatives including the Clinic on Wheels Project, the Nutrition Support Program and the Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics. These programs are designed to bring quality healthcare and targeted nutrition services to communities that need them most, reinforcing the province’s commitment to improved primary care and preventive interventions.

Khawaja Imran Nazir said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif the government remains focused on widening access to care and tackling malnutrition through coordinated action. He emphasized that partnerships with international agencies are essential to achieving long-term gains in Punjab health outcomes.

WFP Country Director Coco Ushiyama welcomed Punjab’s initiatives and reaffirmed the agency’s willingness to support expanded joint efforts. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to ensure more residents benefit from nutrition support and mobile and community clinic services, aiming for a healthier and better-nourished Punjab.
