Reviving Pakistan Cinema Through Policy Action

Islamabad, 7 November 2025 — Dr. Musadik Malik, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, chaired the inaugural meeting of the Prime Minister’s Committee for Revival of Film and Cinema to set a new policy direction for Pakistan cinema.

The meeting brought together Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, and Huzaifa Rehman, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Culture and Heritage, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to review institutional and regulatory frameworks governing production, distribution and exhibition.

Participants discussed concrete measures to strengthen coordination among ministries and stakeholders, with an emphasis on aligning policies to emerging global trends. The committee explored ways to encourage the use of digital platforms, support indigenous content creation, and modernize distribution and exhibition rules to foster sustainable growth of Pakistan cinema.

Dr. Musadik Malik stressed that revitalising cinema is vital for cultural expression, the creative economy and national storytelling, urging prompt policy alignment and stakeholder engagement to ensure Pakistani films better reflect the country’s diversity and reach wider audiences.
