Accelerating Islamabad Sectors Development
A high-level meeting at CDA Headquarters saw Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa chair a session on Islamabad Sectors development with senior CDA officials and relevant wing officers in attendance. Members from administration, finance, engineering, planning, environment and estate along with the Deputy Commissioner were briefed on progress and agreed to form focused working groups to expedite construction and clear barriers to progress.
One working group will concentrate on fast-tracking new sector development while a separate team will prepare a comprehensive restoration and upgradation plan for older sectors, covering infrastructure rehabilitation, horticulture and landscaping, and the provision of modern civic facilities.
In Sector C-14, officials reported rapid progress on Road Infrastructure (TST), ongoing horticulture works and internal electrification along the service road. Chairman Randhawa directed acceleration of remaining tasks including street light installation, drainage and sewerage completion, reliable water supply and finalisation of electricity connections to ensure the sector is fully operational.
Work in Sector C-15 is advancing with earthwork for road infrastructure underway and sub-base completed on around 17 roads. Contracts for remaining development works have been awarded and CDA officials expect all road infrastructure in C-15 to be finished by March next year.
Development activity in Sector E-12 is ongoing in Sub-sectors 2 and 3, while tender processes for Sub-sector 4 are nearing completion, positioning the area for the next phase of construction and service delivery.
In Sector I-12, TST works are on track to be completed this month, and the chairman instructed teams to prioritise early finalisation of road infrastructure to meet the planned timelines.
Chairman Randhawa emphasised that permanent street lighting, dependable water and sewerage networks must be guaranteed across all sectors and directed concerned officers to maintain regular field presence to ensure timely delivery. He also pressed for early handing over of possession of developed plots, stressing that alongside citywide infrastructure, timely sector development remains central to meeting Islamabad residents housing needs and community standards.
