Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman Senate of Pakistan, met with Ambassador Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater on the occasion of Qatar National Day to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to closer partnership with Qatar. He conveyed warm congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and the people of Qatar and underlined the importance of deepening Pakistan Qatar ties across multiple fronts.

Chairman Gilani welcomed Qatar’s active participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Speaker Conference held in Islamabad in November 2025 as a clear sign of growing parliamentary engagement. He stressed that enhanced legislative cooperation will strengthen institutional links and foster sustained dialogue between the two countries’ lawmakers.

Economic cooperation and trade were highlighted as central pillars of the bilateral relationship, with expanding Pakistani exports and energy partnerships identified as priorities. Recognising the more than 300,000 Pakistanis living in Qatar, Chairman Gilani praised their contributions to social and economic life and said their role is vital in cementing people-to-people links. He also commended the Ambassador for his efforts in promoting cooperation between Islamabad and Doha and facilitating stronger bilateral engagement.

The meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to advance cooperation with Qatar across political, economic and social domains, grounded in shared values, mutual trust and long-term strategic interests. Chairman Gilani emphasised that sustained parliamentary diplomacy, trade initiatives and support for the diaspora will continue to shape a forward-looking Pakistan Qatar ties agenda.
