Dr. Aayesha Riaz awarded three certifications from IFBA

VC Arid University presented certificates and commends her expertise in biosafety and biosecurity

Dr. Aayesha Riaz, Associate Professor at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), has been awarded three internationally recognized certifications from the International Federation of Biosafety Associations (IFBA). She successfully achieved certifications in Biorisk Management, Biosecurity, and Biological Waste Management making her one of the few professionals in Pakistan to hold all three distinctions. Among a limited group of only 50 professionals nationwide certified in Biosecurity and Biological Waste Management, Dr. Aayesha’s accomplishment highlights her exceptional commitment to biosafety standards and practices.

Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman formally presented the certificates and praised Dr. Aayesha Riaz for her continued dedication to advancing the safe and secure handling of biological materials. He said that Dr. Aayesha Riaz’s achievement reflects not only her personal dedication to professional excellence but also elevates the reputation of our university in the vital fields of biosafety and biosecurity. We are proud to have such outstanding faculty members contributing to global biosafety standards.

The IFBA certification program is renowned globally for its rigorous standards, adhering to the guidelines outlined in ISO/IEC 17024:2012. This ensures that certified individuals possess the requisite competencies to mitigate biosafety and biosecurity risks. These certifications demonstrate capability of a person to handle biological materials safely and securely, contributing to the reduction of biosafety and biosecurity risks.

Dr. Aayesha Riaz expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, stating that his “unwavering support, guidance, and visionary leadership” were instrumental in achieving this milestone.
