OEC Launches Advisory Desk for Safe Migration to Germany

The Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) have launched a dedicated Advisory Desk in Islamabad to support Pakistanis seeking regular and safe migration pathways to Germany and the European Union. This new initiative aims to provide trustworthy, one-stop guidance for study, training, and employment opportunities abroad.
Located at the OEC office in Islamabad, the Advisory Desk is part of GIZ’s “Migration for Development” (ZME) programme. It is designed to inform and advise individuals about legitimate and ethical migration routes, reducing the spread of misinformation and helping applicants access the skills and opportunities that meet demand in Germany and the EU.
OEC Managing Director Naseer Khan Kashani highlighted the importance of the Advisory Desk, stating that it furthers OEC’s mission to channel Pakistan’s talent into safe and demand-driven international opportunities. Steve Seifret from GIZ emphasized the partnership’s goals, which include strengthening legal migration channels, fostering skills development, and ensuring ethical recruitment. He also reaffirmed the commitment to robust data protection practices in line with European GDPR standards.
The services offered at the desk include guidance on education and vocational training (such as the German Ausbildung programme and language proficiency requirements), information on work and mobility options, scholarship opportunities like DAAD, and advice on visa and residence procedures. Referrals provided by the desk adhere to standardized ethical practices, with all data handled in compliance with strict privacy regulations.
Ultimately, this public-sector-led initiative seeks to create a reliable ecosystem that widens access to accurate information and transparent procedures, helping Pakistani talent connect with legal and skills-matched opportunities in Germany and the EU.
