PIMS Hospital Reforms Gain Momentum

Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal received a comprehensive presentation covering all departments of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) as part of a focused review of hospital operations and future development plans. The briefing brought together senior officials including the Secretary of the Ministry of Health, the CEO of CESSP, the Director General of Health, the Joint Secretary (Hospital), the Executive Director of PIMS and the hospital’s relevant staff.

The presentation outlined PIMS current capacity and the operational challenges it faces, detailed existing machinery and equipment, assessed staffing levels and emergency services readiness, and examined the hospital’s IT infrastructure. Planners also highlighted proposed development projects aimed at expanding services and modernizing facilities over the coming period.

The minister emphasized the urgent need for effective, measurable PIMS reforms to raise institutional performance and patient care standards. He urged all stakeholders to coordinate closely, prioritize critical upgrades and adopt an ethos of public service in implementing improvements across departments.

Officials were directed to translate the presentation’s findings into actionable plans with clear timelines and accountability, ensuring that upgrades to equipment, staffing and IT systems proceed in a way that strengthens PIMS capacity and responsiveness for patients across the capital region.
