FMG Refunds Secured After Senate Committee Action

After Senator Nadeem Ahmed Bhutto raised the matter in a Senate Health Committee meeting, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council moved quickly to follow the committee’s directions. The PMDC processed and returned FMG refunds to many overseas-qualified doctors, providing relief to hundreds of young medical professionals who had been awaiting an outcome.

The Foreign Medical Graduates community expressed strong appreciation for Senator Bhutto’s timely intervention and advocacy on behalf of graduates. The leadership of the PMDC, particularly President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj and Registrar Brig. (R) Dr. Rehan Naqvi, was praised for responsible and efficient implementation of the committee’s guidance and for expediting the refund process.

Speaking for overseas-qualified doctors, Dr. Rafey Sher conveyed gratitude to the senator and PMDC officials for their cooperation and responsiveness. He noted that the returned funds will ease financial burdens for many graduates and help restore confidence among those seeking to continue their medical careers in Pakistan.

This development underscores how parliamentary oversight coupled with proactive regulatory action can resolve administrative issues affecting medical professionals. The FMG community hopes the constructive coordination that led to these FMG refunds will continue, ensuring transparency, fairness and facilitation for qualified medical professionals across Pakistan.
