Federal Cabinet Meeting Approves Trilateral Rail Study

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, where ministers paid tribute to a fallen officer, approved a trilateral framework agreement for a joint feasibility study with Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to boost regional trade and connectivity, and discussed a range of other national matters.
The meeting was attended by all cabinet members, including Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi. Cabinet proceedings opened with a moment of remembrance for Major Adnan Aslam, who was killed during an operation in Bannu. Ministers offered prayers for him and expressed the nation’s pride in its martyrs and their families.
On the recommendation of the Ministry of Railways, the cabinet ratified a trilateral governmental framework agreement among Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan to conduct a joint feasibility study. The agreement was described by ministers as a strategic milestone aimed at enhancing regional trade links and improving connectivity between the three countries.
Cabinet members also held detailed discussions on other important national issues, reviewing developments and ongoing government initiatives across various portfolios. No further decisions were announced publicly at the close of the session.
