Advancing Regional Peace Through Pakistan Iran Dialogue
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, in which the two leaders exchanged detailed views on the current regional situation and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability. The call focused on practical steps to support sustained dialogue in volatile areas of the region.
The Prime Minister briefed President Pezeshkian on his recent diplomatic outreach to a number of world leaders, noting that those engagements have helped build broader consensus in favour of dialogue and diplomacy. He stressed that such consensus is essential to achieve lasting peace in the war-affected region, reinforcing Pakistan’s focus on regional peace through constructive engagement.
The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation for the productive discussions held between the Iranian leadership and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during his visit to Tehran earlier this month. Reassuring Iran of Pakistan’s firm commitment to regional peace, the Prime Minister said Islamabad will continue its sincere and honest endeavours to promote peace and security across the neighbourhood. The emphasis on dialogue and diplomatic channels was highlighted as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s approach to resolving wider regional tensions.
President Pezeshkian thanked the Prime Minister, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for their contributions to the peace efforts, reiterated Iran’s desire for peace, and expressed confidence that fraternal ties between Iran and Pakistan would continue to strengthen and expand.
