Punjab Sports Board Unveils Youth Games and New Facilities

An important meeting was held at the Sports Board Punjab, chaired by Provincial Minister for Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, to discuss the province’s latest sports initiatives and upcoming events. Senior officials, including Punjab Sports Secretary Muzaffar Khan Sial, Director General Sports Punjab Khizar Afzal Chaudhry, and other key administrators, participated in the meeting.
The agenda focused on reviewing 88 new sports development schemes and planning for the inaugural National Youth Games. The Director General also briefed the gathering on the upcoming Jashn-e-Azadi Family Fun Race, which is expected to be one of Lahore’s largest events of its kind. Over 3,000 boys and girls have already registered for the race, a development hailed as highly encouraging by the Sports Minister.
Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar emphasized that Punjab’s teams would participate fully prepared in the first National Youth Games. He stressed that the selection of the 360-member squad should be conducted strictly on merit to ensure the best talent represents the province. The minister also directed that comprehensive and coordinated training should be provided to all athletes from August 22 to September 5 to achieve optimal results.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to sports infrastructure, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar announced that new stadiums and sports complexes are being constructed across Punjab at a cost of billions of rupees to provide modern facilities for the youth.
After the meeting, the provincial minister visited the ongoing Hockey Summer Camp at the National Hockey Stadium. He met with individual players, offering words of encouragement and support to boost their morale.
