Bannu Police Kill Notorious Suspect in Forest Shootout
Acting on confirmed intelligence, Bannu police carried out a targeted operation in the forests of Khashni Kallah that resulted in the death of a suspect wanted in multiple murders. The man was identified as Imran son of Inayatullah, a resident of Jaman Road in Khashni Kallah, who had been evading arrest.
District Police Officer Yasir Afridi received credible information about Imran’s whereabouts and dispatched a coordinated team led by the SDPO City and the SHO City. When officers moved to arrest the suspect he opened fire on the police party and an intense exchange of gunfire followed. Police recovered the body of the suspect after the encounter.
Authorities say Imran was wanted in connection with the killings of five people. Two days earlier he is accused of murdering two labourer brothers and a child on Jaman Road, and he had earlier been implicated in the killing of a woman and a relative. Local residents staged a protest by placing the bodies of the slain brothers on the road near the DIG’s bungalow to demand immediate arrest and justice.
The operation has drawn public praise for its promptness and coordination, with residents and social circles commending Bannu police for acting on the tip and bringing the case to a decisive conclusion. Officials say the action was taken after confirmation of the suspect’s location and was carried out with professionalism amid the armed confrontation.
