Authorities Urged to Act in Kot Radha Kishan Kidnapping
Family members of Muhammad Afzal, who was abducted from Chak No. 17 near Kot Radha Kishan nine years ago, are demanding immediate action after the arrest of a wanted suspect failed to produce the missing man. The family says that although police have detained an accused more than a week ago, the case has seen no progress and Afzal has not been recovered alive or dead.
Afzal, father of five, had worked at a factory and reportedly left his job after suffering an injury. On 24 October 2016 he rode away from home on his Honda 125 motorcycle (registration LEL-3894) after receiving a job-related call and did not return. An abduction case was later registered at Changa Manga police station in Kasur as FIR No. 703/16 on 29 November 2016 against unknown assailants.
According to his brother Muhammad Tariq, investigations pointed to two relatives, identified as Khalid alias Sajid and his elder brother Muhammad Bashir, as the main suspects. Lahore police have arrested a man named Sajid, who is on the wanted list, but the family maintains that both brothers are responsible and that Bashir remains at large. The family also alleges that the suspects have admitted to luring Afzal and that there are claims he was killed.
Speaking at the Rawalpindi Press Club, Muhammad Tariq appealed to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Prime Minister, the IG Punjab, the DPO Kasur and the Crime Control Directorate to take urgent steps to recover Afzal and bring the perpetrators to justice. He said the children and parents are living in constant anguish and demand a clear outcome, whether Afzal is found alive or his remains recovered.
The family calls for immediate arrest of all suspects linked to the Kot Radha Kishan kidnapping, transparent investigation by the authorities and swift prosecution so that the victim’s children receive justice and closure. The focus remains on ensuring the police act decisively to resolve this long-standing case.
