Netherlands Ambassador Visits NCA to Strengthen Exchanges
H.E. Mr. Robert Jan Siegert, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, visited the National College of Arts during the NCA Thesis and Degree Show 2025, where Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri, Vice Chancellor NCA, along with faculty and administrative leadership, received the distinguished guest. The visit offered a close look at the graduating cohort’s creative work and the institution’s commitment to nurturing new artistic talent across Pakistan.
During his visit the Ambassador was presented with an introductory documentary on the institution, which traced NCA’s academic legacy, artistic traditions and contemporary achievements. The screening framed recent initiatives, including NCA’s first Triennale, a landmark international event that brought artists from over 30 countries to Pakistan and staged major exhibitions at the college.
The Triennale was highlighted as a milestone for international artistic exchange and cross cultural dialogue in Pakistan, and the Ambassador praised the quality and diversity of creative expression on display. He expressed appreciation for NCA’s forward-looking institutional vision and the progressive nature of works presented by graduating students.
Responding to briefings on future collaboration, the Ambassador showed keen interest in exploring a Memorandum of Understanding with NCA to promote artist and student exchange programmes. Proposed areas of cooperation include joint residencies, collaborative projects and structured mobility that would deepen cultural ties between the Netherlands and Pakistan and expand opportunities for Pakistani artists and students associated with NCA.
