Orphans In Need Expands Support in Pakistan

British MP Imran Hussain announced that the UK charity Orphans In Need will expand its Pakistan program by sponsoring an additional 2,000 children, a move expected to benefit some 10,000 families across the country.

The organisation, which operates in 14 countries and supports around 120,000 children globally, currently sponsors about 14,000 people in Pakistan and provides monthly education, healthcare and nutrition support to 1,100 orphan children. The expansion was revealed at a National Press Club event in Islamabad attended by fundraising head Altaf Hussain and community fundraising coordinator Mazmil Khan from Bradford.

Orphans In Need plans to extend services in Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Mansehra, Mardan, Malakand, Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Mirpur, focusing on vulnerable families, widows and orphaned children. Under the programme, the charity will work to secure access to safe housing, medical care and school support to improve long-term prospects for the beneficiaries.

The charity will also roll out a winter relief initiative and distribute food and winter packs ahead of Ramadan so struggling households can observe the holy month with more dignity and peace. These seasonal interventions are part of a wider approach designed to combine immediate relief with sustained support for education and wellbeing.

Orphans In Need highlighted that more than one hundred sponsored children have completed higher education and now serve as doctors, lawyers and teachers, illustrating the long-term impact of sustained sponsorship. Localised programmes will continue to monitor progress and ensure that monthly aid contributes to healthy growth and lasting opportunity for children and families.

The expanded sponsorship drive reflects Orphans In Need’s commitment to deepen its Pakistan presence and address urgent needs in multiple districts while promoting education, health and social stability among the country’s most vulnerable communities.
