Driving Clean Technology for Industrial Emissions

At Faletti’s Hotel in Lahore a high level stakeholder dialogue convened under the Punjab Clean Air Program (PCAP) to advance work on industrial emissions baselines and a clean technology roadmap. Mr Zaki Aijaz, Regional Chairman and Vice President of the FPCCI, attended alongside Mrs Nosheen Malik, Special Secretary Industries Commerce and Investment Department, Mrs Saira Omer MD PSIC and other senior government officials and stakeholders.

Participants discussed the importance of establishing robust industrial emissions baselines to guide regulatory action and investment decisions. Building reliable baseline data was highlighted as essential for tracking progress, targeting pollution hotspots and prioritising interventions that will reduce air pollution across Punjab’s industrial zones.

Delegates examined pathways for adopting clean technology, emphasising practical steps industry and government can take to accelerate transition. The dialogue underlined the need for incentives, technical support and collaboration with development partners to scale up cleaner processes and equipment while maintaining industrial competitiveness.

Speakers and attendees called for strengthened coordination between public sector bodies, industry representatives and development partners to turn the roadmap into implementable measures. The session reinforced FPCCI and PSIC roles in mobilising industry engagement and noted that data driven planning on industrial emissions will be critical to delivering a cleaner, more sustainable Punjab.
