Pakistan faced a historic defeat in the first Test of the three-match series against England at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Despite posting a mammoth first-innings total of 556 runs, Pakistan lost by an innings and 47 runs, marking the first time in 147 years of Test cricket that a team scoring 500+ runs in their first innings has lost by an innings.
After winning the toss, Pakistan captain Shan Masood opted to bat, and the hosts capitalized on the batting-friendly conditions.
In response, England mounted a solid comeback. Despite early setbacks, their middle and lower-order batsmen took control, leading to a first-innings score of 823 and a lead of 267 runs.
In their second innings, the hosts faltered, losing wickets at regular intervals. Despite valiant half-centuries from Salman Ali Agha and Aamir Jamal, the rest of the batting lineup failed to build significant partnerships, leading to a crushing defeat.
This loss gives England a 1-0 lead in the series, leaving Pakistan with a daunting challenge ahead as they look to bounce back in the next match.
