Scaling IPC Training Across Lahore Hospitals
The collaborative IPC strengthening initiative by the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, Punjab, and the National Institute of Health, Islamabad is progressing across Lahore’s major teaching hospitals. Last week, five-day cascade IPC training sessions were completed at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS) and the Government Teaching Hospital Shahdara, bringing targeted infection control instruction to high-risk clinical areas.
Led by dedicated provincial IPC master trainers, the sessions focused on enhancing core infection prevention competencies and reinforcing both standard and transmission-based precautions. Participants practiced protocols designed to reduce healthcare-associated infections and strengthen patient safety, with the cascade approach ensuring knowledge reaches multiple levels of hospital staff.
Officials expressed deep appreciation for the guidance and leadership provided by the Provincial IPC Focal Person and the coordination ensured by the Provincial IPC Coordinator. The support of Medical Superintendents and hospital administrations was acknowledged, and master trainers and participants were commended for their commitment to raising IPC standards across Lahore through sustained IPC training efforts.
