Accelerating Pakistan with 5G Spectrum Rollout
President of FPCCI Atif Akram Sheikh has congratulated the government on the successful and timely auction of the 5G spectrum, calling the transparent process a critical step for Pakistan’s digital economy. He said the availability of 5G spectrum will act as a catalyst for faster internet, greater connectivity and fresh opportunities across multiple sectors.
Atif Akram Sheikh noted in Islamabad that the start of 5G technology will bring innovation to the IT and telecom sectors, improving internet speeds and enabling new business models for e commerce, industry and services. The rollout of 5G spectrum can help scale freelancing and IT exports by providing the high-speed, low-latency networks that modern digital services require.
According to him, successful 5G spectrum allocation will encourage telecom companies to invest further, spurring infrastructure upgrades and the deployment of more towers and modern equipment. For 5G spectrum to deliver nationwide benefits, coordinated government action is needed to ensure coverage across urban and rural areas and to support the necessary digital infrastructure.
He highlighted that 5G spectrum can unlock opportunities for smart cities, digital banking and enhanced industrial productivity. Faster connectivity could stimulate e commerce growth, improve service delivery in health and education, and open new export markets for Pakistan’s IT sector.
Atif Akram Sheikh urged the government and the PTA to shape a business friendly policy and regulatory framework that accelerates 5G spectrum deployment while encouraging private investment. He emphasized that this technology will create new jobs for youth, strengthen digital infrastructure and position Pakistan more firmly within the global digital economy.
