Enhancing Pakistan Belarus Parliamentary Ties
On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the Convener of the Pakistan–Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group, Ms. Natasha Daultana, MNA, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Pakistan, Mr. Andrei N. Metelitsa, at the Belarus Embassy in Islamabad to discuss measures to deepen parliamentary cooperation. The Convener underlined the role of parliamentary friendship groups in strengthening legislative links and parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries.
Ms. Daultana invited the Ambassador to visit the National Assembly to engage directly with members of the Pakistan–Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group, noting that such interaction would support a virtual meeting between Pakistan’s group and its Belarusian parliamentary counterpart. She stressed that sustained engagement through legislatures can complement diplomatic ties and practical cooperation, enhancing Pakistan Belarus ties at the parliamentary level.
The Ambassador welcomed the proposal and reiterated the cordial relations between Islamabad and Minsk. He recalled recent high-level exchanges that have marked a positive chapter in bilateral engagement, including the participation of the Prime Minister of Belarus at the SCO Summit in 2024, the November 2024 visit of the President of Belarus to Pakistan, and the August 2024 visit of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, to Belarus with a parliamentary delegation.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to consolidating relations through increased parliamentary contact, virtual dialogue and reciprocal visits. Enhanced parliamentary cooperation, they agreed, will provide a platform to advance mutual understanding and support broader Pakistan Belarus ties across political and legislative channels.
