Key Insights from Agriculture Policy Roundtable Pakistan

Under the leadership of Dr. Waqar Masood, former Federal Minister and Finance Secretary, Aisar Self-Reliance Agricultural Core Team hosted a significant roundtable focused on evaluating and enhancing Pakistan’s agricultural policy framework. The session provided an in-depth analysis of current agricultural practices, highlighted critical challenges facing the sector, and identified potential areas for improvement through expert deliberations.

The roundtable began with opening remarks from Syed Bilal, President of Aisar, who emphasized the importance of formulating a targeted agricultural budget for 2025-26. He outlined the primary challenges and opportunities facing the agriculture sector and set the stage for subsequent presentations and discussions.

Expert presentations followed by prominent specialists, including Dr Waqar Masood, Dr Usman Mustafa, and Dr Islam, who critically reviewed current agricultural policies. They assessed the implications of these policies on farmers’ livelihoods and overall agricultural productivity, noting areas where improvements could lead to increased efficiency and enhanced outcomes for Pakistan’s farming community.

A comprehensive analysis of current policy shortcomings was conducted, and discussions produced practical and actionable recommendations aimed at addressing these gaps. Emphasis was placed on crafting effective strategies that could lead to sustainable growth in agriculture, ensuring greater prosperity for farmers and the sector at large.

Moving forward, additional roundtable sessions will be organized to further refine recommendations, culminating in a set of final proposals to be submitted to the government for consideration and implementation.

Although this initial roundtable proved highly valuable, Aisar is committed to ongoing dialogue and continuous engagement with agricultural experts to ensure lasting positive change within Pakistan’s agricultural sector.
