Pakistan and Iran Strengthen Bonds Amid Regional Tensions and Support for Peace

The Pakistani National Assembly has conveyed strong solidarity with Iran following recent Israeli military actions, emphasizing the importance of regional peace and the enduring friendship between the two nations. During a meeting at Parliament House, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Iran in the face of aggression and called for renewed efforts towards regional stability.

In his discussions with Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq condemned Israel’s recent attack on Iran as a blatant violation of international law. The Speaker praised Iran’s resilience and expressed confidence that strengthening bilateral relations could further solidify Pakistan’s alliance with Iran. He also welcomed the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel, emphasizing that the world’s focus should now shift to renewed commitment to peace rather than escalation of conflict.

The Speaker highlighted Pakistan’s proactive role in regional peace, noting that the country’s responses to Indian aggression have demonstrated its strategic and diplomatic effectiveness. He pointed out that recent tensions and conflicts underscore the urgent need for global action to prevent further instability. In particular, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq criticized Israel’s actions, describing them as a severe threat to regional security and arguing that they violate international norms and the United Nations Charter. He called upon the international community to take immediate notice of these violations.

Expressing deep concern over the Palestinian casualties, which he stated exceeded 50,000 due to Israeli operations, the Speaker described the tragedy as a profound sorrow affecting Pakistan and the wider Muslim world. He emphasized that Pakistan’s National Assembly was the first legislative body to pass a resolution condemning Israel’s attack on Iran, with over 200 Members of Parliament reaffirming their support for Iran during discussions on the upcoming fiscal budget.

Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening regional relations extends to enhancing parliamentary and economic cooperation with Iran. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted that increased parliamentary engagement can play a crucial role in deepening diplomatic ties and fostering people-to-people contact. He expressed confidence that a successful partnership amidst these turbulent times would serve to bolster bilateral relations further.

Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s unwavering support, describing Islamabad as a reliable and brotherly partner. He acknowledged Pakistan’s swift and principled stance following Israel’s attack on Iran, praising the country’s efforts in advocating for Iran’s dignity and sovereignty on international platforms. The Ambassador also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support on behalf of the Iranian Parliament and government, including remarks on the ongoing efforts by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s Parliament, and the military leadership.

Moghadam further stated that Israel’s attack was aimed at damaging Iran’s nuclear program, noting that Israel’s weakening position has led to increased U.S. involvement in the conflict. He lauded Pakistan’s constructive role in regional peace initiatives and stressed the importance of expanding parliamentary cooperation to deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to regional stability and emphasized the importance of unity in the face of external threats. The meeting underscored the shared resolve of Pakistan and Iran to bolster their alliance and promote peace and security throughout the region.
