Pakistan Metal Industry Advances with Gujranwala Processing Zone

**Pakistan Metal Industry Takes Major Step with Launch of Processing Zone in Gujranwala**
The Pakistan Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Metal Association (PFNFMA) has initiated a significant development in the country’s industrial sector by organizing a high-level meeting to advance the creation of a dedicated Metal Processing Zone in Gujranwala. Bringing together industry leaders and key government officials, the initiative is aimed at promoting sustainable manufacturing, increasing exports, and ensuring adherence to environmental standards.
At the center of this initiative is a strategic session chaired by PFNFMA Chairman Ali Butt, with active involvement from Vice Chairman Nouman Naeem Bhatti and President Asim Jawaid. The leadership emphasized PFNFMA’s vision to modernize the metal industry by making it more efficient, compliant with regulations, and orientated toward global markets.
High-ranking government figures attended the meeting, including Nadia Faruki, Director at the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Lahore; Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, Director General of Environment Lahore; and Deputy Director Salman from Gujranwala. Their participation highlighted the broad official support behind the project and the shared commitment to ensuring industrial growth proceeds within established environmental and regulatory frameworks.
Designed as a specialized industrial hub, the proposed Metal Processing Zone will offer advanced infrastructure and operational support for metal manufacturers. Facilities will include centralized waste management systems to mitigate environmental risks and compliance services to ensure that production meets international standards. The zone is also expected to foster more cohesive and efficient processes for local manufacturers, thereby enhancing the quality of Pakistani metal products for export.
This initiative is poised to mark a significant milestone in both local and national industrial development. By providing state-of-the-art facilities and compliance resources, the zone is expected to attract domestic and foreign investment, generate job opportunities, and strengthen Pakistan’s export portfolio in both ferrous and non-ferrous metal sectors. Moreover, it is expected to help position Pakistan as a competitive supplier in the global metal industry.
The PFNFMA expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who participated in the meeting and reaffirmed its commitment to driving industrial innovation and responsible growth. The Association encouraged ongoing collaboration from both the public and private sectors and will release further updates as the project progresses toward completion.
