Punjab University College of Art & Design, in collaboration with the China-Pakistan Educational and Cultural Institute and representatives from the Chinese Consulate, opened an art exhibition titled Commemorating Together: Art for Peace to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance and the World Anti-Fascist War. The exhibition brings together 100 works across diverse media that reflect themes of resilience, peace and the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and China.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, who served as chief guest. Also present were He Yubing of the Chinese Education Association, Sho Kun of the Pak-China Educational Cultural Institute, college chairpersons, faculty and students from the University College of Art and Design.
The exhibition features 100 artworks exploring historical memory, cultural exchange and human solidarity. Pieces span painting, embroidery, gouache, digital prints and poster prints, presenting a wide range of artistic approaches and techniques. Many works emphasize resilience and peace while celebrating cultural ties between Pakistan and China.
Organizers said the show is intended both as a cultural commemoration and as a platform for artistic dialogue. By marking the 80th anniversary, the exhibition aims to foster reflection on shared history and to promote mutual understanding through creative expression.
Li Haoteng said the Consulate looks forward to expanding collaboration with the college, including a proposed teacher-student exchange program and additional joint exhibitions. He praised Pakistani artists for their talent and urged greater recognition of their work. Dr. Samina Nasim, Principal of the University College of Art and Design, expressed solidarity with the commemorative events and reiterated the college’s commitment to ongoing cultural cooperation, underscoring the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.
