Strengthening DRAP USP Collaboration for Better Regulation

The Chief Executive Officer of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan met with Dr. Zakiya, Senior Manager, Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs (EMEA) at USP, and Dr. Geoff Tsen, General Manager and Vice President, Regional Program Operations, USP China, to discuss stepped-up cooperation on regulatory matters.

USP officials underlined the importance of a close partnership to strengthen both the national regulatory authority and Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry. The conversations focused on delivering technical assistance, reinforcing regulatory systems, and implementing capacity building initiatives to align local practices with international best practices.

Participants explored practical pathways for knowledge exchange and targeted training that can improve compliance, quality assurance, and oversight across the therapeutic goods sector. The delegation’s regional experience was highlighted as a resource for shaping sustainable, locally relevant programs.

By advancing the DRAP USP cooperation, stakeholders aim to elevate standards in Pakistan’s pharmaceutical landscape, support industry readiness for global benchmarks, and ultimately enhance public health outcomes through stronger regulation and safer medicines.
