Rawalpindi Drives Tree Plantation at Millia School

The Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi organized a tree plantation event at Government Millia School in Rawalpindi, carried out on the special instructions of the MD Horticulture Agency and in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The tree plantation brought together schoolchildren, agency officials and local representatives in a coordinated effort to green the city.

Member Provincial Assembly Shazia Rizwan attended the ceremony and personally planted saplings alongside students and horticulture staff, as hundreds of young trees were put into the ground during the campaign. The hands-on participation of children highlighted the role of youth in the tree plantation drive and reinforced the Clean and Green mission across local communities.

Speaking at the event, MPA Shazia Rizwan emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to tackling climate change and improving urban environments. She noted that well-planned tree plantation can reduce pollution and disease, improve air quality and provide long-term benefits to neighbourhoods across Rawalpindi.

Teachers at Government Millia School welcomed the inclusion of students in the campaign, saying that engaging children in tree plantation fosters environmental stewardship and creates lasting habits that will benefit the city’s climate. Schoolchildren pledged to continue planting saplings at home, in streets and in their neighbourhoods to support a greener Rawalpindi.

The Horticulture Agency reiterated its appeal for public participation in the tree plantation initiative, urging citizens to join ongoing efforts to expand green cover. With coordinated action from government bodies, local representatives and communities, the tree plantation campaign aims to make measurable improvements to Rawalpindi’s urban environment.
