Foreign Medical Graduates Push PMDC for Swift Resolution

A successful and peaceful protest by Foreign Medical Graduates led the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council to convene a comprehensive meeting with key FMG stakeholders. The concerns and reservations of the Foreign Medical Graduates were presented to PMDC by Dr. Tahir Sikandri, Dr. Rafey Sher, Dr. Adnan Orakzai and Dr. Abdul Rehman Gujjar.

Participants at the meeting welcomed the constructive approach of PMDC officials, who assured facilitation and a commitment to resolve issues affecting affected FMGs. Stakeholders voiced appreciation for coordinated dialogue and emphasized the need for timely action to protect the rights of Foreign Medical Graduates.

On the occasion all parties expressed special gratitude to Dr. Shoaib Niazi, President of the Young Doctors Association Punjab, for his sustained leadership and legal support throughout the process. His assistance in the FMGs’ legal struggle was widely acknowledged by the FMG community.

PMDC has given a three-week timeframe to address and resolve the outstanding issues raised by Foreign Medical Graduates. Stakeholders were clear that if the legal rights of FMGs continue to be ignored, all FMG groups together with Dr. Shoaib Niazi will initiate a Long March that will continue until their legitimate demands are fully accepted.

Following the PMDC meeting, Dr. Rafey Sher, Dr. Tahir Sikandri, Dr. Adnan Orakzai and Dr. Abdul Rehman Gujjar held a subsequent meeting to review the discussed points and finalise their future strategy to ensure accountability and timely implementation of agreed measures for Foreign Medical Graduates.
