Matni sports Hub to Boost Youth Development

Assistant Commissioner Saeed Manan has unveiled a plan to turn Tehsil Matni, with a focus on Pishtakhra and surrounding areas, into a model zone for healthy and positive youth activities. The initiative aims to use sport as a central tool for social development and to steer young people away from negative influences.

Manan said a comprehensive strategy has been prepared and that practical implementation will begin shortly. The initial phase will concentrate on cricket, reflecting its wide popularity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and across Pakistan, while other sports will be introduced in subsequent phases to build a broad sporting culture in the tehsil.

Speaking alongside Malik Farman Ali, Managing Director of Malik International Cricket Academy, the Assistant Commissioner emphasized that Matni sports projects can provide a structured outlet for youth energy and discipline. He described sports as an effective means to cultivate constructive behaviour and community cohesion.

Manan highlighted that the Matni sports programme will create opportunities to spot and nurture hidden talent, with the long-term goal of preparing athletes to represent the province and the country at higher levels. He stressed that coordinated planning and collective effort from local institutions and stakeholders will be essential to realise this vision.

Malik Farman Ali welcomed the initiative and offered full support from his academy, noting the importance of accessible training and coaching in nearby areas like Pishtakhra. Local elders expressed optimism that the plan, once implemented, will provide a healthier environment for young people and open pathways for talent development and recognition.

The announcement positions Matni sports at the centre of a community-driven effort to promote youth engagement, athletic opportunity, and regional pride, with practical steps expected to roll out soon under the Assistant Commissioner’s oversight.
